Curio: Terms of Service
Last updated November 1, 2026
Acceptance
By using Curio you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
What Curio is
Curio is an alarm clock that asks you to answer trivia to turn the alarm off. It is a consumer convenience tool. It is not a medical device and should not be relied on where a missed wake-up could cause harm to health, safety, or property.
Alarm reliability
Curio uses Apple's system alarm features to ring through silent mode. Even so, alarms depend on your device and its settings. An alarm may not sound if the device is powered off, out of battery, in certain audio routes such as a connected car or headphones, or if system permissions are turned off. You are responsible for testing that your alarm works for your setup and for keeping a backup where the stakes are high.
Subscriptions
Curio Premium is an auto-renewing subscription billed through your Apple ID: $1.99 a month or $14.99 a year in the US. Prices vary by region and are shown in the app before purchase. Every new install gets a free week of Premium with no payment; it does not turn into a subscription. A subscription renews at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel it in your Apple ID's subscription settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies.
One-time purchases
Trivia packs and alarm sounds can be bought once for $0.99 each, or unlocked with coins. A purchase belongs to your Apple ID. Refunds are handled by Apple.
Coins
You earn coins by playing in Curio, and you can spend them only inside Curio, on packs and alarm sounds. Some actions, such as snoozing, cost coins. Coins have no cash value. They cannot be bought, sold, transferred, or exchanged for money, and they are not your property. Curio may change how coins are earned, spent, or priced, and may correct balances that result from errors or misuse. Curio backs up your balance where it can, but cannot guarantee it survives deleting the app or changing phones.
Referral rewards
When a friend plays trivia you shared, you earn 25 coins, once per friend per day. When a friend who came through your link wakes up with Curio for the first time, you earn 500 coins. Rewards are coins only, never money. Playing your own links, or fake or automated plays, earns nothing, and Curio may remove coins earned that way. Curio may change or end this program at any time.
Acceptable use
Use Curio for personal, lawful purposes. Do not attempt to break, reverse engineer, or misuse the app or its content.
Content
Trivia and fun facts are provided for general interest and may contain errors. They are not professional advice.
Disclaimer and liability
Curio is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent allowed by law, the maker of Curio is not liable for any loss arising from a missed alarm or from use of the app.
